I love to play musical & light up playboard!
I love to play musical & light up playboard!

KK, who is a 5 years old boy, joined our class in January last year. According to the ICF-CY-based FUNDES-Child assessment with profound levels of severity has been identified with the first category.

“At the beginning, KK couldn’t sit quietly in the class and couldn’t easily walk. Our teachers have continuously assisted in helping him walk and encouraged him to participate in the class and have the most joyful learning possible. We are pleased with his progress and glad to tell you that KK can walk by himself now and follow our instruction within the classroom to play musical and light up playboard games well or join in simple choreographed physical movements.

The music therapy is amazing! Children are naturally interested in music, and music-based interventions particularly are attractive for KK and all children in our class.”

- Message from the class teacher, Miss Yu

Mission impossible

It is not easy to teach or care developmental delay or disabilities children daily. We are very grateful to you for all the donations you give even we have the impossible mission, and we will carry it out continuously. There are 70 children receiving our music therapy, and most of children are making good progress in the classes. We are looking forward to serve more needy children with developmental delay and we will ensure to deliver the professional services to them.

NN, who is a 2-year-1-month old boy, joined our class in February this year. According to the ICF-CY-based FUNDES-Child assessment, NN, with mild disabilities has been identified with three categories including mental functions & structures of the nervous system, functions & structures of/involved in voice and speech, and neuromusculoskeletal and movement related functions & structures.

“We found he has made excellent progress even he only joined us 4 months ago. At the beginning, he showed poor attention and concentration in the class and cannot walk steadily while comparing to other 2 years old children. Through the training in each class, NN was a passive recipient of constant instruction and stimuli, and he has increased the concentration and motor skills significantly throughout the musical story.

With the improvement of NN’s participation, we provided the music therapy combined with physiotherapy, and he now can walk well. His progress is obvious, everyone can see that.”

Wei Wei, who is a 3-year-10-month old boy with moderate cerebral palsy, joined our class in September, 2016. He has the difficulties to stand and walk due to moderate cerebral palsy. He was diagnosed with hyperopia and amblyopia, and thank God he has much better hearing than others.

“That is truly impressive! I still remember that Wei Wei could repeat words of the picture book after participating in the first class of the music therapy in TFCF. Even just few words, I finally knew he could speak and he was willing to express his movement response to music. The change of Music therapy on Wei Wei really makes us very pleasantly surprised. Thank all donors to give Wei Wei a Music Magician through TFCF Taichung City Child Development Center.”

Thank you for giving us a music magician!

Most of developmental delay children have difficulty communicating and playing with others. It affects their involvement and progress in the general curriculum. Children participate in our class accompanied by music that help increase their motivation and focus prior to the start of play. We see the enormous value of music therapy from our program and really appreciate your great support and commitment to our project — we couldn’t do the good work without you! Thank you for giving our children a music magician and changing their lives.

TFCF new projects coming soon

We are glad to inform you that we are working on a new project for needy children in Mongolia and we hope you could support us as what you did for children in Taichung. We will continue to work steady and you are welcome to join us and bring more benefits for disadvantaged children in the world. It’s great to have you with us.

I wish you and your family happiness, health and prosperity!

With gratitude,

Wen Hung

Ze, who is 4 years 9 months old boy with moderate cerebral palsy, and joined our class in July, 2015. He was found to suffer from eye tracking problems and poor visual perceptual skills. Even with short attention spans, his perception of musical-produced sound is much better than visual perception.

Thank God Ze shows slightly higher levels of sensitivity to music, and he could participate successfully in music experiences and we expected to see the music therapy’s value in his treatment of motor, speech/language and cognitive domains. At the beginning, Ze was unable to interact with teachers and completed most of works by his parent instead. He often struggled with communication including eye-contact and verbal. We’ve provided Ze with various handheld percussion instruments, and he began to talk and interact with us gradually even a single word. Now Ze enjoys more fun in the class with his mother, young sister, and teachers. Thanks to all donors for the opportunity to have children, parents and family members grow together through the music therapy project.

We need your words!

"Children are the hope of the future. Let's help them."

"See music to let children progress, feel the Agency's intentions."

Thank you to everyone for your kind words. I see it all and I am grateful and blessed to receive so much encouragement from you all. We will keep our work steady year after year.

Happy New Year 2017~

Thank you for your support in the pass year. It’s hard to believe we closed out another calendar year, but we are excited for this new year of opportunities and growth that awaits us. The Lunar New Year is coming soon, we would like to let you know that your donation is going to play a vital role in allowing us to do good things for needy children in Taichung. Our organization wouldn’t be able to continue this valuable mission without generous people like you.

I wish you and your family a joyful, healthy and prosperous new year ahead!

With gratitude,

Wen Hung

Ren, who has a chromosome abnormality (trisomy 18), is 5 years old now and joined our class in August, 2015.

Ren has no difficulty in group activities, but she has low self-esteem. Her perceptual motor development was slightly delayed and scored worse on balance and the associated fingers movements. Her receptive language scores were higher than expression. It has been 14 months since Ren joined our class. We found that she has shown good progress in refining all her motor skills through music therapy. Both group activities and parent participation are very helpful to make her progress. At the beginning, she was unable to achieve a squatting or standing position. However, she has increased muscle strength and endurance. We are so excited to see her slow running. Now she may use phrases or a sentence to express ideas and joins our drum team!

So nice to hear from you on GlobalGiving!

"It is a helpful program for kids who in need."

"Very vivid and lively, let me feel the joy to a child's development."

"They need supports a little by little as they progress by little"

I really appreciate your time and everything you've written! It's always nice to hear a word of encouragement. All feedback messages are very important and encourage us to keep our work steady.

Since the project started in 2015, there have been more than 72 little angels participating in the classes 1~2 times per week. Our therapy team also learns a lot from children’s progress and continues to enhance the course content and explicitly increases activities of cognitive development relating to daily living and self-care. We always promote parents to get involved in our course and there are more than 12 parents participating regularly and they accompany children to learn and grow together.

Thank you for supporting TFCF Taichung City Child Development Center and giving a Music Magician to needy children with developmental delay in Taichung, Taiwan. I will continue to share every great moment with you through GlobalGiving reports while seeing our little angels fly free. Please invite your friends and families to spread the word about our project and encourage more people to take actions to participate in the cause as you do.

Wen Hung
