Dear Friend,
You subscribed to email updates from ‘Support specialist nurses for people with MS’ by Multiple Sclerosis Trust, a project on GlobalGiving. Here's the unedited update from the field:
Funding new MS specialist nurses in the UK - Rob Carter Director of Fundraising & Marketing
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a life-long, complex condition affecting the central nervous system. There is no known cure. The impact of MS can be life changing, not just for those diagnosed, but also for their loved ones.
The MS Trust provides care and support to people living with MS through its MS specialist nurse programme. An MS specialist nurse is often the main point of contact for people affected by MS. They offer clinical advice, direct support and the ability to connect patients to other services, such as a doctor or a therapist.
The MS Trust receives NO government funding to do this and yet each MS specialist nurse can potentially save the NHS more than £70,000 a year.
Your support has helped us to recruit 4 new MS nurse posts in; Lothian, South Tees, Hull and Coventry, with more in the pipeline for areas of greatest need. Progress like this has only been made possible thanks to your kindness and generosity, but there is still so much more we can do.
Thank you so much for your amazing generosity and for helping to support the 110,000 people affected by MS in the UK.
With our very best wishes
Rob Carter
