Dear Supporter,
Many thanks for your kindness and generosity so far.
We have a safe house where we can accomodate up to 22 families staying at any one time. These families have fled Domestic Abuse and can no longer be in their own homes. The majority of these families have had to leave all their belongings behind.
When they have spent up to 6 months with us being supported by our experienced team including our childrens team, it is then time to set up in their new home.
A lot of the time the new accommodation they are given will be completely unfurnished, not even a bed or carpets so it can feel very daunting and becomes expensive to source furniture, even second hand.
However we feel that it is important they are also able to purcase new items for themselves that will make their new home feel more like their own. This helps to remind them of their self worth and importance.
The cost of living is making it harder for survivors to be able to buy items for their homes and we continually hear stories of them using wooden pallets as furniture. We do what we can by applying for grants to purchase furniture for them but these grants are also becoming harder to access.
Therefore we thank you for your help in making a difference to a survivor and their children. To reach out and help a stranger is an amazing thing to do.
