Being associated with CSA adoption Project I keep visiting Adoption agencies from Rural area in the month of May I paid visit to adoption agency from Jalana (a district in Maharashtra India). I was sitting in the office the office and having word with the trustees of this home regarding various other issues to identify their need where CSA can support them and upgrade the home for children’s betterment.
I could sense that some tiny baby is peeping from the door and hiding when I was turning my attention towards the door. I finished the discussion and then asked the trustee who is the one who is peeping out from the door? And I got to know about the story of those two eyes waiting for his mom…… 2 yrs old Nitin (name changed) was bought to the adoption agency by police he was found near the garden crying alone. Since then the police inquired him about his name, parents name but he didn’t utter a single word. Social worker from the adoption home asked him using different methods but Nitin was speechless. The only thing the social worker could get was that he was very attached to his mom.
Adoption agency made all the effort to find Nitin’s parent but all in vain. Here Nitin was examined by the doctors and could not come out with any deformity for his ability to speak. Six months passed but Nitin never uttered a single word. Nitin was silently watching that the set of parents are coming and picking up the younger kids and taking them home. Every time there were parents /visitors Nitin used to get more excited he used to peep out from the door to watch whether there is somebody for him. Nitin was not selected by any of the parents because he never spoke a single word. I met him and felt that I should try my level best to find parents for him. I came back to Pune and got busy with my routine work but could not forget those eyes which said so much. We CSA team made all the efforts to search parents for him, putting his details on our website, talking and appealing parents to consider Nitin. Finally a lady pilot in well-known air force in India, who was willing to be a single mom visited our website and gave me a call. I immediately told her about the availability of Nitin. She showed her willingness and completed the formalities to take Nitin under foster care. She decided to get the speech therapist’s consultancy for Nitin and fix his deformity. Nitin was very happy to see his Mom in the first visit itself. Joy was pouring out of his eyes, he kept holding her hands was not ready to leave her. No speech was required for both of them.
Last week when I called Nitin’s Mom she told me that the speech therapist says Nitin doesn’t require any speech treatment and he has started talking. He loves being in company with his cousin and neighborhood friends but more than that he loves his MOM.
