CSA believes “Little souls find their way to you, whether they’re from your womb or someone elses”.
In our work with orphanages, we have noticed many young children without any parental contact or whose parents' whereabouts are not known. On a case to case basis, we have facilitated movement of such children into adoption and they have been placed with families. This has happened to 50+ children and is one of the most fulfilling and joyful outcomes from our work, because for these children, their life has been completely transformed on a permanent basis!
We are therefore working on several pilots involving the concerned government officials such as CWC (Child Welfare Committee) and WCD (Women and Child Development Department) / DCPO (District Child Protection Officer). We do a systemic investigation into the parental status of all children in orphanages and provide the documentation required to get them declared as legally free for adoption. The results are also very encouraging.
There was a recent case of an older child - Naveen* getting adopted in Odisha. The child was staying at a Child Care Institution since last 8 Years, he lost his parents when he was 6 or 7 year old. He has 2 siblings - 1 elder sister & 1 elder brother.
In 2016 May, CSA conducted a social investigation with his sister who said it was not possible to look after him. In July 2016, his name was published in a paper advertisement & since there were no claimants, by October 2016, his name was uploaded in the Central Adoption Resource Authority's database - CARINGS. After a long waiting period of over 1 and half years, this young boy, all of 15 years, was finally adopted by a couple. This year he has appeared for his 10th grade exams and is awaiting his results.
We wish Naveen* all the best with his future plans & journey with his newfound family!
