MotherSchools: Parenting for Peace in Zanzibar

The 2025 iteration of MotherSchools Zanzibar began in January with a kick-off workshop between Women without Borders (WwB) and our Local Implementing Partner (LIP) ZAYEDESA. In line with the timeline and organisational plan developed during this initial workshop, the following activities were implemented between January and July:

• Identification of 5 implementation locations throughout Zanzibar
• Mobilisation of Teachers and Notetakers
• Training of the Teachers and Notetakers (ToT)
• Mobilisation of Participants
• Entry assessment conducted: Entry Interviews and Entry Questionnaires
• Roll-out of 10 weekly MotherSchools Sessions
• Weekly monitoring in the form of reports and calls
• Exit assessment conducted: Exit Interviews and Exit Questionnaires
• Graduation Ceremony

Participants from this round of MotherSchools have already begun forming informal networks and planning their own future gatherings to ensure continued community support and sustainability of the project. Over the next few months, this round of the project will be wrapped up and preliminary preparations will be made for the next round, to take place in 2026.
