Thank you for standing by our girls and the community of West Point during these trying times. We are excited to announce that the More Than Me Academy is finally reopening on March 2nd!
Here’s an excerpt from our Program Manager's recent report on our school opening preparations:
After seven months of school closures in Liberia due the Ebola outbreak; it was announced by the Ministry of Education that schools were reopening on Feb.16, 2015. In order to meet the standards of the Ministry of Education, our Education Advisor has attended a series of meetings with the County Education Officer and the District Education Officer to ensure that MTM is on the same page with other international schools operating in Liberia.In an effort to achieve this goal, the MTM education team completed the recruitment of seven teachers for this academic year, through a written and oral test and a round of interviews. In late January, representatives from the Ministry of Education toured the MTM campus to inspect the newly constructed hand washing station, the classrooms, kitchen, teacher’s lounge, bathrooms, clinic and library. The team expressed satisfaction and thanked MTM management for improving the campus.All renovations have been completed as of Febuary 16th. The construction of a huge hand washing station is completed and the school library and computer lab have been arranged and ready for school. We also contracted a tailor to sew 150 school uniforms.Thank you for coming on this journey with us!
