The More than Me team is so stinking excited to finally have the ball rolling on the construction of the More than Me Girls' Academy. This is a huge step for us as an organization, in both our ability to help our current students to achieve their goals and to be able reach so many new students. Every day we are preparing to take on this new challenge in Liberia, with all hands on board there and in the states. We look forward to updating you on the progress of this project as we watch our dream become a reality!
Here is a message from one of the leaders of the building project who was in Liberia for the ceremony:
Well we are another step closer. Today we held a ground breaking ceremony attended by the Superintendent of Montserrado, the Honourable Representative of the District and the donors for the building renovation.
Macintosh did a good speech, the girls sang beautifully, Esther pleaded for us to do more and we all dug a bit of soil. On Monday there’ll be soil, cement and timber flying all over the place and in three months we’re going to have a school.
There’s loads to do: employ staff, organise a curriculum, get new students, work out how the tax system works, etc, etc. But we’re all feeling pretty pumped right now and I reckon we can do it. In 3 months time get ready for the Big opening ceremony.
All the best,
Trevor
