PROJECT REPORTMonthly Scholarship for Poor School Children1. Project Overview
The Monthly Scholarship for Poor School Children project was initiated to provide continuous financial assistance to children and young students from economically disadvantaged families, enabling them to continue their education without being forced to discontinue their studies due to financial difficulties.
At present, the project supports 33 students, including 30 school students and 3 university students.
The scholarship programme is implemented through the support of Satkara Foundation, together with donations and contributions from Sri Lankan friends living in different countries who are committed to supporting the education of children in need.
In addition, Mr. Sangeewa generously contributed USD 344 through GlobalGiving, which has enabled us to provide a monthly scholarship to one selected student for a continuous period of 2 years and 6 months.

The beneficiaries are students from financially disadvantaged families who require regular financial assistance to continue their education.
3. Scholarship Support and Funding
The financial support for the 33 students comes from different individual donors and supporters working together with Satkara Foundation.
Sri Lankan friends living in different countries contribute donations to help provide monthly scholarships to the students.
As part of this programme, Mr. Sangeewa provided a donation of USD 344 through GlobalGiving. His contribution has been allocated to support one student.
Through this contribution, we are able to provide the selected student with a monthly scholarship of LKR 3,500 for 2 years and 6 months (30 months).
The total scholarship commitment for this student is therefore:
LKR 3,500 × 30 months = LKR 105,000
This support provides the student with a stable source of financial assistance throughout the agreed scholarship period.
4. Scholarship Duration
For the student supported through Mr. Sangeewa's donation, the scholarship will be provided continuously for 30 months (2 years and 6 months).
The long-term commitment is intended to provide greater educational and financial stability to the student and their family.
The remaining students in the programme are also supported through the collective contributions of Sri Lankan friends living in different countries, in partnership with Satkara Foundation.
5. Purpose of the Scholarship
The monthly scholarship is intended to help students manage essential educational expenses, including:
School and university-related expenses
Books and stationery
Transportation costs
Educational materials
School and examination-related requirements
Other essential expenses directly related to continuing their education
The financial assistance helps reduce the burden on families and enables students to remain focused on their education.
6. Impact of the Project
The project currently provides regular educational support to 33 students, helping them continue their studies despite financial challenges.
The support provided through Satkara Foundation and Sri Lankan friends living in different countries creates a collective network of people working together to support children and young people in need.
The contribution from Mr. Sangeewa through GlobalGiving has specifically enabled one student to receive a monthly scholarship of LKR 3,500 for 30 months.
This long-term support provides the student with greater confidence and stability and helps reduce the risk that financial difficulties will interrupt their education.
7. Community and Donor Support
This project is made possible through the collective efforts of Satkara Foundation and Sri Lankan friends living in different countries.
Although they live in different parts of the world, these supporters have come together with a common goal: to help financially disadvantaged children and young people continue their education.
Their regular contributions allow us to provide monthly scholarships to students who may otherwise struggle to meet their educational expenses.
8. Monitoring and Follow-Up
The progress of the scholarship beneficiaries will be followed throughout the scholarship period.
We maintain records of scholarship payments and monitor the educational progress and continuing needs of the students.
Where necessary, communication will be maintained with students and their families to ensure that the assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries and supports their education effectively.
9. Donor Acknowledgement
We sincerely acknowledge and appreciate the generous contribution of Mr. Sangeewa, who donated USD 344 through GlobalGiving to support the education of a financially disadvantaged student.
His contribution has enabled us to provide one student with a monthly scholarship of LKR 3,500 for 30 consecutive months, representing a total scholarship commitment of LKR 105,000.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Satkara Foundation and all Sri Lankan friends living in different countries who continue to contribute towards the education of the other students in this programme.
The combined efforts of these supporters demonstrate how individuals living in different parts of the world can come together to create meaningful and lasting educational opportunities for children in need.
