Model School enhances lives of children

Biswanath ready for School

The villages of Sundarban are situated in very remote areas. There is no good school in most of the areas. And the most of the inhabitants are illiterate and less-conscious about the education. Therefore, the students face the problem that a first generation learner faces. Most of the times, the children are engaged into household chores or income generation activities. In addition, the teaching quality of the government schools is not up to the mark and teachers are engaged in different types of work other than studies. As a result, they do not have much time in hand to teach. The students are neglected since not getting quality education.

Biswanath, a student of class VI, has been reading in Sabuj Sangha's Upper Primary School i.e. in Kishalay Shishu Shiksha Niketan (KSSN). He resides in Nandakumarpur village, P.S. Raidighi and not very far from School. His father is Sibram who is a local priest. Barnali, his mother is a housewife. They are not financially bright. Biswanath is the first of their two sons. Despite their poverty, they want the children to access education. He was admitted in this School in class I. Little Biswanath was very shy and introvert. He hardly talked and played with his classmates in initial days. After these six years of special care, his shyness has been reduced. He is now very friendly with his classmates. He is among the best in their class. He is popular for his decent behaviour. Besides, he loves to read science books from library and issues such books regularly from library; he is also having keen interest in indoor games.
