Model School in Sundarban

Around 10 years old Sriparna* lives at remote Kailashpur village in Mathurapur II administrative block of forest infested Sunderbans Delta in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. She stays with her little sister, Parents and Grand Parents in a small house. Her father sustains the family expenses very hardly as a marginal farmer and also by running a small business of making Spice Powder and Threshing Rice etc. The present Covid-19 situation has put the family in deep misery. The small bussing is enduring a stagnancy ever since the recent ‘Yaas’ cyclone made devastating landfall on 26^th May, 2021 at the region. The cyclone has destroyed all stocked and cultivated crops. Thus no consumer came up to them to make powder or thresh their Cultivated Produce.

This entire uncanny has impacted Sriparna* also. Admitted 6 years back in the Nursery level presently she studies in 5^th standard of model school Kishalaya Sishu Siksha Niketan. She is missing her friends, teachers and the overall school ambience ever since the school was closed under the Government Directives due to Covid -19 Pandemic. The only means of communicating with teachers is the Distance Class mode that he attends along with his friends by sharing a smart phone.

The Pandemic has made her more Hygiene conscious. She exerts s hand washing frequently to be within a safety circle.

Sriparna* aspires to be a Teacher when grows up. She loves reading English Books loudly. These days she is waiting for the school to re-open with an eager eye.
