Model School is a Model of our community

By Surojit Mondal | Coordinator

The teaching–learning environment and quality of education in Sundarban region is unsatisfactory. If possible and affordable, parents prefer to send their children to private schools. However, marginal groups are not in an economical position to enroll children in private schools. As such, they are forced to rely on the public school system which is inadequate and ill-equipped. The stakeholders of these public schools are unable to ensure accountability of the system for quality education. Therefore; there is need of a school of quality education, which will create opportunity for those deprived children allowing them to alleviate themselves from poverty .So, through KSSN, the model school in Sundarban region, we are trying to facilitated the first generation learners.

K.S.S.N has been doing much better over the last few years. Evident progress has been witnessed in the field of guardians consciousness, percentage of student attendance, mental and cognitive growths, creative works etc. Students are now very much enthusiastic not only in their academic performance but in participating different school cultural programme like observation days, like independence day, Raksha Bandhan celebration, annual sports etc.

There are several areas which shows the difference from the last year. Teachers got training on motivation and Sensitisation ( by trainers from Netherland) and methods of teaching and instruction. As a result students are benefited. Teachers using L.E.D as T.L.M. In the first unit test almost 50% students got A grade. Success also came in various talent search examinations. Wall magazines, consists of pictures, painting and creative writings, is being published in every three months. students attention power is increased through regular physical training, and yoga classes, which takes place every alternate school days. Students English speaking power and fluency is bettered through conversation classes.

Among a lot of stakeholders, Partha ,Father of Misty , stated her experience “Misty  is our younger daughter and despite our poverty we want our daughter to be a teacher in future and with this expectation we admitted our daughter to KSSN four years before. From her childhood he was a fast learner and having a sharp memory. but there is no good govt. school for her all round development in our locality.so we sent our daughter to a our relatives near to KSSN to take admission there. Before taking admission in kssn he was not studying regularly and was roaming around with others in the neighbourhood. She was engaged in playing most of the time. There was no discipline observed in her life and also not involved into proper hygiene practices. Even her father was also not very keen to look after the child and developing his healthy habits.

But after he was admitted in kssn a drastic change has been observed. Se becomes regular in the School. Initially, She was keeping very unclean but after the admission, he started developing healthy habits and keeping himself clean. She developed an interest in the studies; At the same time, studies regularly. We are really grateful to the teachers of the school for guiding and motivating our son properly.
