Dear Friends,
The Mobile Library is an important resource in the villages of Tropoje Municipality. Its monthly visits are a feature of daily life for the adults and children who live amongst the mountains.
Young or Old, adult or child they gather when the library arrives! Teuta, a grandmother dressed in the traditional black of older women comes along to ensure her grandson has a book to read. They live in Tropoje e Vjeter, a village settled at the base of the mountains. Teuta says, “We are happy that the library comes as it is good that the children have books to read and games to play.”
For other visitors to the Mobile Library, they are not yet old enough to read a book, but they come with their mothers and older siblings. Encouraging young children to look at brightly coloured books and talking about the objects, aids language development and an interest in books, a precursor for reading and enjoying books later in life.
This festive season the young and old of Tropoje need your support to make sure that the Mobile Library can bring them books in 2019.
A very big thank you to all our supporters who have made this service possible in 2018, can we do the same for the next?
