Training local women saving groups in Tororo

By Henry Okumu | Project Leader

Savings Groups Promote Women's Leadership
Women saving groups are becoming important platforms for leadership development and community participation. During this quarter, members assumed leadership roles within their groups and contributed to local decision-making processes.
Group leaders managed meetings, maintained financial records, coordinated savings activities, and resolved challenges. These responsibilities helped women build confidence, communication skills, and organizational abilities.
Many members who initially hesitated to speak in public are now actively participating in discussions and leading group activities. The supportive environment has encouraged women to express their ideas and contribute to community development initiatives.
Leadership opportunities within the groups have strengthened women's confidence in other areas of life. Several members reported greater involvement in school committees, community projects, and household decision-making.
Research has found that savings group participation can increase women's involvement in leadership and community engagement.
Makerere Repository +1
The growth of women leaders within savings groups demonstrates the broader impact of financial empowerment initiatives. These leaders serve as role models and inspire other women to pursue opportunities for personal and economic growth.
We appreciate GlobalGiving donors for supporting programs that empower women to become confident leaders within their communities.
