Psychoeducation session

Since 2016, we have seen over 4500 refugee and host community women and girls at Adjumani Refugee settlement majority survivors of gender based violence, recover from the Psychological trauma resulting from the severe negative experiences they had gone through. Others were living isolated lives, never trusting anyone, bitter and angry, lacking sleep and being disassociated.

Through our Mindfulness practices along with psychoeducational program, facilitated mainly in a group based setting with one on one psychological support when needed by the client, we have seen women let go of the pain, bitterness and anger, beginning to associate with others and doing what they love most. Many have become productive in their communities and are now influential members of the community as new relationships are built.

Due to our new strategic direction over the next five years (Strategic plan 2023-2027) informed by the current pressing needs of the communities, management decided to integrate this program within our Agricultural program. The Agricultural program aims to empower refugee and other women and youths to produce their own food and become self-reliant through practical training on farming skills and provision of farming tools. During these training, other aspects of psychosocial support, basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as Entrepreneurship skills are provided.

We thank all our donors who have supported this program over the years and ask you to continue supporting organization in our new strategic direction as we empower women and girls to become self-reliant, healthy and economically empowered.
