Dear friends,
Thanks to your support, we have been able to create a child-friendly space for children in the Kharkiv region, right next to the frontline. In a place where explosions can be heard almost daily, we built a small island of childhood and joy.
The SpivDiia for Children team transformed an abandoned basement of a local library into a place where children can learn, play, and feel safe. Just a few months ago, it was a cold, empty shelter. But thanks to the efforts of residents, volunteers, and coordinators, it came to life: with carpets, books, bright toys, and even sweets for kids.
Today, this space is more than just a shelter from shelling. It is a place where children can experience a sense of normal childhood: meeting friends, learning offline, and taking part in creative and educational activities. For many, this is the first time in years, as schools near the frontline remain closed and education is available only online.
Mentors and psychologists from SpivDiia help children to restore emotional balance, cope with anxiety, and adapt to the constant stress of war. Parents share their gratitude, knowing their children are not only safe, but also cared for and supported.
For this community, where ordinary childhood joys seem like a luxury, the basement of a library has become a true lifeline. It shows that even in the darkest of times, it is possible to create light, bring hope, and nurture resilience.
Today, SpivDiia for Children works in dozens of communities across Ukraine — in schools, hubs, and temporary shelters. In the Kharkiv region alone, there are 24 teams, with more than 15 in the Sumy region. Safe spaces have also been opened in Cherkasy, Lutsk, Zhytomyr, and Zaporizhzhia. Everywhere, they serve the same purpose: to let kids be kids, and to give parents psychological support, practical advice, and the reassurance that they are not alone.
We are deeply grateful for your trust and support.
We ask you to continue standing with the children of Ukraine, so that even during the war, they can have access to education, feel cared for, and grow up in safety.
With gratitude,
The SpivDiia for Children Team
