New Year Report: New Hope

By Kate Mattias | Project Leader

Our project - revitalized homes for people with mental illness - is a newbie to Global Giving.  The project was posted online in November. Nevertheless, we have received several donations over the last few months and are encouraged by that fact.

We are continuing to get the word out about Global Giving and our project through Facebook, our NAMI Connecticut Newsletter and other communications with our members.  We welcome any ideas on other ways to promote our project!

Our project is powerful in its simplicity: for a small amount of money and volunteer time people's lives can be transformed because their housing is improved.  For folks with mental illness, many of whom are on fixed incomes, upgrading their living space can be a challenge which is where our project comes in: we have folks who themselves have mental illness helping other individuals with mental illness - a "pay it forward" model that helps and empowers all those involved.

We hope in the year ahead to continue growing our Global Giving presence and donations and want to thank those who have contributed already!
