During this quarter, we reached 120 young people (70 girls and 50 boys) through mental health and psychosocial support interventions. We conducted 8 psychosocial support sessions and 4 peer support group meetings, providing opportunities for youth to openly discuss challenges affecting their mental well-being, including stress, anxiety, family pressures, and social challenges.
Additionally, while those requiring specialized care were referred to appropriate service providers. Through these activities, participants learned practical coping strategies, stress management techniques, communication skills, and the importance of seeking help when experiencing emotional difficulties.
As a result, many participants reported improved self-confidence, stronger peer relationships, and greater awareness of mental health issues. The project also helped reduce stigma surrounding mental health by encouraging open conversations and peer support.
A Story of Change
One young participant, whom we will call Sarah to protect her privacy, joined the program feeling overwhelmed by personal and academic pressures. She often struggled with stress and found it difficult to share her feelings with others.
Through participation in psychosocial support sessions and peer discussions, Sarah gained confidence and learned healthy coping mechanisms. She now actively participates in youth activities and supports her peers in discussing mental health challenges.
"The sessions helped me understand that I am not alone. I learned how to manage my emotions and where to seek help when I need it," Sarah shared.
Stories like Sarah's remind us that investing in young people's mental well-being creates lasting change. With your support, we continue to provide hope, resilience, and opportunities for youth to thrive.
