Dear friends,
The Melipona beecheii is more than just a pollinator — it is a sacred thread in the cultural and ecological fabric of the Yucatán. For centuries, Maya communities have nurtured and learned from this stingless bee, using its honey in healing rituals and preserving its delicate existence through meliponiculture. Today, both the bee and the traditions surrounding it are at risk.
Over the past years, we've built strong local partnerships, developed training frameworks, and prepared new conservation sites. Yet to truly move forward — we need the resources to act. Without additional funding, we are unable to implement these next critical steps.
We aim to pass on knowledge and pride — so that the next generation of Maya youth sees their identity and environment as deeply valuable.
This project is ready to grow. What we need is your support to help it flourish. Every donation helps us protect biodiversity, empower local women and beekeepers, and honor the heritage of the Maya people.
With heartfelt thanks,
The ICDO Team
