Aspen goes to Court to Support Survivor

By Kelly Vates | Executive Director

Aspen waiting for her client.

Memorial Day weekend is quickly approaching and while many will be celebrating, Aspen and I will be heading to court to provide support for a human-trafficking Survivor who is preparing to testify and we need your help!

Additional $1,000 support is needed to assit in covering travel costs, lodging for two nights and clothing needed for the survivor to attend court.

Human Trafficking ranks as the fastest growing and second largest criminal enterprise in the world and generates approximately $150.2 billion worldwide.  The Polaris Project, which houses the National Human Trafficking Hotline identifies the northwest corner of Indiana, adjacent to Chicago as a high-risk area for trafficking.  According to the Salvation Army, more sex trafickers are arrested in Cook County (Chicago) than anywhere else in the United States with female victims between the ages of 15-24 being the most targeted victims.

Of the state total of 1,195 reported trafficked victims in Indiana (2019) based on the National Human Trafficking Hotline, it is estimated that 45% of those individuals are from the Northwest region of Indiana. There is a noticible lack of services targed toward HT Survivors.

Fair Haven is committed to assisting survivors of Human Trafficking seek freedom and justice.  Would you join us in this effort and help provide Therapy Dog assistance to a survivor who desperately needs comfort, compassion and unconditional love.

Thank you for your continued support of Aspen as this project is 100% funded through community donations, 100% of your donation goes directly to cover costs to provide Therapy Dog Services to victims of crime.
