Merry Christmas from our Reindeer Stable!
This year at Fair Haven, we had a door decorating contest amongst the staff all to provide a welcoming and joyful atmosphere here in the office.
We selected to build a reindeer stable as many people remark on Aspen's size and compare her to a small horse! So, the stable part seemed to fit. We even put candy stickes outside the door for all to enjoy! With the sign posted "don't feed the reindeer!"
Aspen continues to work with clients here at the office. Her time spent with our adolescent clients is special. Aspen, shown below, is woring with a client that is struggling with touch. She is lying on the floor close to the client but not touching her. The client pets Aspen from a distance and builds intimacy and trust. Each week, she gets closer and closer to the dog. Aspen is very patient and allows the client to decide.
This has been an amazing year for Aspen. She has grown into her job quite well. She greets all visitors and so enjoys working with the clients and the staff. At the end of a hard day, it's not uncommon to have an advocate come seeking snuggles and support from our furry co-worker.
We look forward to the continue use of Animal Assisted Therapy services here at Fair Haven. The budge for this program is completely supported by community donations. Without your generosity, this program would not be possible.
Thank you for all your generosity. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
