Dear Partner,
We are grateful for your continued support of our MedTreks campaign!
Introduction:
MedTreks and Village HopeCore International are making a real difference by partnering to empower local healthcare workers, enhance medical services, and bring health and hope to underserved villages in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya. In these areas, healthcare disparities persist, but this partnership is addressing these challenges by delivering essential medical services to underserved communities and providing hands-on capacity building to HopeCore public health workers, making a profound impact.
Staff Capacity Building by MedTreks
On August 14, 2023, 21 Public Health staff had a full-day training session conducted by MedTreks nurses. The topics covered included diabetes, danger signs in children, cerebral palsy, and medical emergencies. For each topic, the team participated in pre-tests and post-tests to assess knowledge and skill development. The training was conducted in a timely and well-organized manner, and the team actively engaged throughout the session.
Health Fair Event at Karigini Primary in Tharaka Nithi County Kenya
Also during their August visit to Kenya, MedTreks volunteers, donors, US board members, and HopeCore hosted a memorable Health Fair event at Karigini Primary for the Kandungu Community.
This event was a ray of hope, providing health services and knowledge to the community. At this event, 238 adults had the opportunity to learn about nutrition, family planning, and hypertension. These lessons are tools for healthier lives and brighter futures. A total of 154 clients received essential blood pressure screenings, offering reassurance and guidance to those dealing with high blood pressure. HopeCore also distributed 190 mosquito nets - an effective shield against malaria.
Conclusion
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your donations have sustained our mission and expanded our reach, ensuring that more underserved communities receive the healthcare and hope they deserve. The stories of improved health and transformed lives as a result of this partnership are inspiring, and the need for ongoing support is undeniable.
