2023 MEDTREKS PLANS
Medtreks’ commitment to development, strengthening global health, and building the capacity in rural Kenya in collaboration with Village HopeCore International (HopeCore) has remained unwavering for over twenty years. Medtreks helps HopeCore build capacity in Kenya by providing ongoing medical education and skills training to Kenyan health professionals. The MedTreks program is designed to work with the HopeCore Public Health Program, providing them with the specific training they require to expand their healthcare services and train additional healthcare workers throughout rural Kenya.
Medtreks will be visiting Kenya in August from 12-21 , 2023. During this visit, Medtreks will conduct a health fair, an educative and interactive event meant to provide basic healthcare and screening to the rural community members in Tharaka Nithi County. Community members will be educated on hypertension, family planning, hygiene, and maternal and nutrition care.
The Medtreks team will also be part of the Village-based Maternal Health Clinics. Village-based MCH Clinics are conducted in central community locations or homes to ensure clinics are geographically accessible, with four significant components working hand in hand: Educate, Prevent, Treat, and Advise. This is an opportunity to provide growth monitoring services, vitamin A supplementation, deworming to children under five years, and family planning services.
The team will accompany the HopeCore team to school mobile clinics, which provide free treatment and education to HopeCore partner schools in Mwimbi and Muthambi Sub-counties. Additionally, school-going children receive mass deworming, mosquito nets, and sanitary pads.
We look forward to sharing more details about the great accomplishments achieved by the Medtreks team within the year.
