Medical Teams International - Cholera Outbreak
Medical Teams International - Cholera Outbreak

This holiday season means many things for us, including celebrating our 31st anniversary.  In 1979, our first team of volunteer health professionals helped saved lives of refugees fleeing the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. Since then, we have mobilized more than 2,000 teams and responded to more than 85 disasters, including the recent cholera outbreak in Haiti.

To date, we have sent more than 35 teams composed of more than 165 volunteer doctors, nurses and other health professionals to Haiti. With your support, we have been able to help nearly 200,000 Haitians survive the aftermath of the earthquake and the related recent cholera outbreak.

We are thankful for our generous donors of medicines and medical supplies and the dedicated service of our volunteers that helped us commit more than 98 percent of the contributions we receive to direct support of programs and services that help people in need. The work is far from over, but we are committed to serving the people of Haiti in the long term.

Come January, please expect our Haiti One-Year Report. For updates and additional current information, please visit www.medicalteams.org. You can also connect with us through social media at www.medicalteams.org/facebook and www.medicalteams.org/twitter.

Again, many thanks for your support and we wish you all a prosperous and healthy 2011!
