Although the project has not yet received sufficient funding through the GlobalGiving platform to fully implement planned medical and rehabilitation services, Youth Advocacy Council Pakistan remained committed to promoting the rights and well-being of children with disabilities in Kasur through low-cost community engagement and awareness activities.
During the reporting period, our team conducted outreach visits and informal meetings with parents and caregivers of children with disabilities to better understand their challenges and rehabilitation needs. These interactions provided valuable insights into barriers faced by families, including limited access to healthcare services, social stigma, lack of rehabilitation facilities, and financial constraints.
The organization also facilitated awareness discussions within local communities to encourage acceptance, inclusion, and equal opportunities for children with disabilities. Volunteers shared information regarding the importance of early intervention, rehabilitation exercises, education, and family support in improving children's quality of life.
Youth Advocacy Council Pakistan strengthened coordination with local health professionals, therapists, community leaders, and disability advocates to explore future collaboration opportunities. Preliminary assessments and referrals were made for a number of children requiring specialized medical or rehabilitation support.
Key Achievements
Challenges
The primary challenge remains the lack of funding required to provide comprehensive medical care, physiotherapy, speech therapy, rehabilitation services, and assistive devices to vulnerable children. Many families continue to face economic hardship, limiting their ability to access specialized care independently.
Looking Ahead
Youth Advocacy Council Pakistan remains dedicated to supporting children with disabilities and their families. As funding becomes available, the organization plans to expand activities to include medical assessments, physiotherapy sessions, speech therapy support, caregiver training, and distribution of assistive devices. Continued support from donors will help transform the lives of children with disabilities by improving their mobility, communication skills, independence, and social inclusion.
We sincerely thank GlobalGiving supporters and visitors for their continued interest in our mission. Your encouragement helps us continue advocating for a more inclusive and supportive future for children with disabilities in Kasur, Pakistan.
