The Second Edition of YouthHubAfrica's Media Internship Program training was a comprehensive 4-day media training where young persons within the ages of 18 to 30 acquired hands-on training on skills such as Photography, Videography, Social Media Management and Video Editing. An Open Call for Application was rolled out for a week starting from Tuesday, January 15, 2019, to Tuesday, January 22 2019. A total of 242 young Nigerians applied for the training, of which only 16 persons were selected and trained, instead of the initial proposed target of 25 young persons.
The training commenced on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, to Friday, February 1, 2019, with different sessions facilitated by 10 resources persons who are experts in media, particularly media for development. The training, despite the odds, was impactful, empowering and commendable. Participants were awarded Certificates at the end of the 4-day training. This will be followed by a maximum of 6-months paid internship with our organization and interested sister organizations.
However, due to insufficient funds, YouthHubAfrica was only able to train 16 persons as against the proposed 25 persons. We were able to raise $60 from GlobalGiving. Additional funds covering expenses for the project was self-sourced.
We believe that the training would have being a more practical and enriching one if we had had enough equipment, facilitators and logistics to cover for the 16 participants and even include more individuals to meet the proposed target of 25 persons.
Thank you for your support so far. We believe we can reach our target for the year 2020 with your support.
