The Fraser First Booster Club was awarded a $10,000 grant by the DTE Energy Foundation for our soon-to-be sensory garden! This is a huge step towards complete Phase 3 of McKinley Barrier-Free Park.
The FFBC board has met with landscapers, DPW, the Fraser Parks and Recreation Director, and others to plan out the sensory garden. Our hope was to get the layout in the ground before winter, but winter has come a little early.
By the springtime, we hope to have the entire sensory garden in. It will include a labrynth-style path that will be wide enough for wheelchairs to use, and plants and flowers to stimulate the senses.
There will also be fun musical pieces added for everyone to enjoy throughout the year!
FFBC is currently applying for other grants in order to complete the McKinley Barrier-Free Park. We are still actively looking for donations and sponsorships to help us along the way.
As always, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has made this vision a reality.
