With deep appreciation, we want to share how your support has made our education program in Cojolya possible, transforming lives and planting seeds for a bright future. In our facilities, we not only preserve the art of backstrap loom weaving, but also provide a safe and enriching environment for the children of our artisans during the afternoons or mornings.
Normally the routine for the youngest elementary students is classes in the morning until noon, during the afternoon they usually do their homework and then go to play. There are several students in the program who often have difficulties with some of their homework and that is where they come to the association to find out more about the subject assigned to them.
While the artisan mothers of these students are already at the Association's facilities weaving or knitting, some of the students arrive in the afternoon to be dropped off by their parents, where they take the opportunity to do their homework and get help with any questions they may have. Here, they receive academic and motivational support, helping them to reinforce their school skills and explore new areas of interest. Activities include creative drawing sessions, as well as personalized tutoring to address their doubts and strengthen their learning in the tasks they have been assigned at their school. We also provide access to computers and internet so that they can do their research and if a question arises we are on hand to answer it.
Students at the basic and/or diversified level usually come to the facilities on their own to use the computers and printouts, or if not, also to solve their doubts about their homework.
This intimate and welcoming environment not only fosters academic learning, but also promotes the personal development and self-esteem of our young students. On some mornings or afternoons, our Social Program Director is dedicated to inspiring and guiding these young people, creating a space where they can discover their potential and grow in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Thank you for making this program possible. Your generosity is not only changing lives, but also building a brighter future for our communities.
