Most of the artisans did not have the opportunity to study, a situation that prevented them from learning how to read and write. They fight daily so that their sons and daughters can have the opportunity.
Currently, the economic factor is one of the biggest barriers for families, which is why many children, mainly girls, are withdrawn from school at an early age.
Our Mano a Mano por el desarrollo program supports and contributes financially to artisans so that they can maintain and support their sons and daughters in schools.
We are proud and congratulate the parents who together with their children achieved their primary dream.
María, one of Cojolya's many-year-old artisans, has managed to achieve one of her biggest dreams as a mother, to see her first child graduate from high school. Her happiness is inexplicable, her many years of effort have blossomed. Despite her labor difficulties as an artisan and her husband's as a farmer, José's success in school has meant success for the whole family.
María:“I am full of happiness and gratitude in my heart to God for allowing us to achieve this achievement with my family, to the Cojolya education program for supporting my son in stocking up on his monthly school supplies and free use of computers for several years, and to all the people who donate, I thank you for believing in the program and in us."
José:"I have achieved one of my great dreams, now I must look for a job so that I can financially support my family."
In addition to José, all the students in the education program have advanced another year in their studies.
The 2022 school year ended a bit late for all schools, and now students are waiting to start another year.
Salvador:"Thanks to the program, my two daughters are advancing in school, one of them is about to begin junior high and I am happy for her and grateful to all the people who support us."
Andrea:"More than a year ago I was put in charge of my nephews, after their mother’s death. I did not know how to keep them in school, but thanks to all the people who support Cojolya, they can now have their school supplies through the program.”
We are proud and congratulate the parents who together with their children achieved their primary dream, and to all our donors for believing in our project and who contribute to the education of the sons and daughters of the artisans.
