Misael and Oliver feel very happy about the goal that they reached. Oliver shared the following: “I am happy that I finished primary school, and at the same time, I’m excited because next year I will be starting middle school. My hope is to have a profession in the future so I can help my younger siblings so that they can study too.”

This year, around the world, it has not been easy to get an education. It has been even harder for Mayan communities. In Mayan communities, education has been irregular, and students have had to study from their homes, with access to fewer resources. Many students did not have their teachers’ constant accompaniment because of the restrictions, and they could not get in contact with their teachers by internet because they did not have access to this resource. The most complicated part is that many of their parents did not attend school and were therefore unable to help their children much.

For the children, it was not easy to study this year. It was a major challenge for them to have to develop their own learning experience. Misael and Oliver triumphed because of their dedication and effort. The program accompanied them along this difficult journey, providing them with physical copies of materials on the topics they had to study, since they could not come to Cojolya to use the computers or internet. Even though the middle school students were able to take laptops to work from their homes, the primary school students could not use the computers without any guidance.

The program seeks to support the students economically and provide them with pedagogical accompaniment. The social program has had a positive effect on the artisans’ children’s lives. Many youth have gone far because of this support. As a result of our program, we have an accountant, three teachers, and primary and high school graduates. Other students have been able to achieve their goals over time.

We must come together to support the children and youths in the program in achieving their dreams.

You can support these children and youth through donations, so that next year, the students can have school supplies, access the internet for free, make copies, and more.
