Report on the Matinza School Project

By Yan Huang | Financial Officer

Dear Donors,

In the past four months running from April 18, 2026 to August 13, 2026, our Right to Quality Education team has continued to advance the Matinza Sanitation Project while steadily expanding our visibility and fundraising network through a variety of activities. The highlights of this quarter were the organisation of Walk for Water and Bake Sale events in collaboration with a European school and a student association.

On May 15, UWC Primary School in Maastricht held its Walk for Water event, raising €847.88 in support of the Matinza Project. On May 28, members of our team collaborated with the Tribez Student Association to organise a Bake Sale, which raised an additional €187.83. Together, these two events raised a total of €1,035.71, which will directly support the implementation of the Matinza Project. These activities not only contributed to our fundraising goals but also helped us engage with students and school communities and raise greater awareness of the project.

Meanwhile, we continued our collaboration with a student consultancy group, which provided external advice and tailored recommendations on how to strengthen the project's fundraising strategy. Their work has offered useful insights that can support the team in developing future fundraising activities and identifying new opportunities. Looking ahead, we are actively exploring new fundraising opportunities, including creative collaborations with student associations. We will also continue our outreach efforts with schools and aim to maintain regular monthly contact to strengthen these relationships and encourage future collaboration.

Please let us share a message with all donors: You make a huge impact on the lives of many school girls and boys by providing them with proper sanitation and adequate water, by doing so combating absenteeism and preventing the lack of access to quality education. Be sure to follow the Centre for African Justice, Peace, and Human Rights on social media to be informed about updates on the Matinza project and any upcoming events.
