Project Report | Apr 17, 2026
Report on the Matinza School Project

By Yan Huang | Financial Officer

Dear Donors,

In the past four months, from December 12, 2025 to April 17, 2026, our Right to Quality Education team continued to place the Matinza Project at the centre of its work. This quarter focused on strengthening fundraising, expanding partnerships with schools and student associations, clarifying stakeholder communication, and improving the project’s financial and strategic foundations.

A key priority this quarter was the development of fundraising opportunities through student associations and external partners. We explored several low-cost fundraising ideas, including a bake sale, karaoke night, and other collaborative events, and began turning these ideas into more concrete plans. In particular, two meetings were held with the Tribez Student Association, resulting in a draft bake sale concept, a provisional budget, and a shared interest in featuring Ugandan snacks to create a stronger connection to the Matinza Project. We also held an in-person meeting with the Afro Student Association (ASA), which expressed interest in supporting Matinza through a future event.

In parallel, we worked with a student consultancy group, preparing a detailed fundraising presentation and report to support an external consultancy process that will provide tailored recommendations for strengthening the project’s fundraising strategy. Overall, this quarter was marked by important preparatory work, stronger external partnerships, and clearer fundraising directions for the Matinza Project. In the coming months, we aim to turn these plans into concrete outcomes by finalising collaboration details, launching fundraising activities, and continuing to expand support for the project.

Please let us share a message with all donors: You make a huge impact on the lives of many school girls and boys by providing them with proper sanitation and adequate water, by doing so combating absenteeism and preventing the lack of access to quality education. Be sure to follow the Centre for African Justice, Peace, and Human Rights on social media to be informed about updates on the Matinza project and any upcoming events.
