Project Report | Dec 18, 2025
Report on the Matinza School Project

By Yan Huang | Financial Officer

Dear Donors,

In the past four months running from September 1, 2025 to December 18, 2025, our Right to Quality Education team has continued to advance the Matinza Sanitation Project through steady outreach efforts, strengthened partnerships, and ongoing improvements to our fundraising strategy. This quarter focused on expanding our network, refining our Walk for Water model, and preparing the ground for future collaborations that will support the implementation of the Matinza project.

This quarter, we reviewed and summarised the feedback received from the two Walk for Water events earlier this year. These insights have helped us refine our organisational approach, allowing us to better coordinate with partner schools and ensure that future Walk for Water activities are even more impactful and engaging for students and teachers. Additionally, we also took important steps in expanding our outreach. Initial contact was made with several schools in the United Kingdom to explore potential Walk for Water collaborations.

Beyond schools, we strengthened our engagement with student associations. Our meetings with the Tribez Student Association resulted in a shared interest in organising a bake sale fundraiser, including Ugandan snacks to create a stronger connection with the Matinza project. Their association also expressed interest in supporting us through community networks that may help broaden our visibility. Likewise, our meeting with the Afro Student Association was very positive, with both sides expressing enthusiasm for future collaboration opportunities.

Please let us share a message with all donors: You make a huge impact on the lives of many school girls and boys by providing them with proper sanitation and adequate water, by doing so combating absenteeism and preventing the lack of access to quality education. Be sure to follow the Centre for African Justice, Peace, and Human Rights on social media to be informed about updates on the Matinza project and any upcoming events.
