For the moment, the current step is finishing the work of our building. As we've already raised 80% of the total cost of our building, and now our goal is to raise $15,000 to complete this project. Our plan is to celebrate the official entrance of this maternity ward on December 1st, 2021.

Now we are building septic tanks with $791 raised through the GlobalGiving Platform. See picture #1.
For the moment, the next step in finishing the work of our building, is to start with the plastering of the walls. This will cost $3,000. FWA’s biggest dream is to become the largest one-stop center for women and expecting mothers where all maternity-related services will be found. In short, FWA aspires to become a comprehensive maternal health care in northern Bujumbura. FWA wants to contribute to decreasing maternal and child mortality in Kamenge and neighboring suburbs. To achieve this, we have started to expand our facility and add a maternity ward. Up to now, we have raised 60% of the total cost ($45,468 out of $75,000) and are talking to the Gould Family Foundation & Project Cure to provide us equipment. The maternity ward will include hospitalization rooms. When the building is completed and equipped, our HIV positive patients will receive free services. Other women will benefit from our services at low cost to ensure sustainability of our programs.
As we've already raised 60% of the amount, now our goal is to raise $30, 000 to complete this project.
We are very thankful for the great step achieved. Therefore, we give our heartfelt thanks all our donors particularly during this threatening pandemic. From April 1st, 2020 to June 30th, 2020 we have raised $95.28 through the GlobalGiving platform for the maternity ward. Those funds have contributed to drawing sidewalks for the drainage of water.
In addition, we put river rubble to prepare for the concreting of our construction.
Now, the next step is to manufacture metallic windows and doors for our building. The cost will be $10,000. We strongly appreciate those who have already donated $5,500 for this through the African Great Lakes Initiative.
We are very thankful for the great step already achieved. Therefore, we give our heartfelt thanks all our donors particularly during this threatening pandemic. We know many people lost their lives, and others have been affected by Covid-19. But we still hope to raise more funds through GlobalGiving. Whoever who is reading this report can forward it to friends or relatives so that we can close this building. We will then need to raise another $10,000 to build septic tanks and stairs.

Vancouver Island Monthly Meeting and individuals in Canada donated $2,108 for the maternity ward. FWA members also donated $1,000 for this specific project step. With all these funds, we were able to do the roof structure with wooden rafters and iron sheets (See pictures)
When this is completed, the following steps will be to build sidewalks for water drainage and then close the building with metal doors and windows.
We are very thankful for the work we have already done. We strongly appreciate all our donors. We still hope to raise more funds through GlobalGiving. Whoever who is reading this report can forward it to friends or relatives so that we can close this building as our next step.
