Dear Partner,
Greetings from HopeCore! We are excited to share the latest progress from our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program, which is making a real difference for children under five by delivering essential maternal and child health services—including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, routine health screenings, immunizations, and caregiver education.
Thanks to your support, we have rolled out a new targeted nutrition approach that is helping us reach more children and support them more effectively. We are focusing on each child individually—checking growth, identifying specific needs, and working with families right in their homes.
A key highlight of this approach is the use of food models during nutrition counseling. These tools help caregivers easily see and understand what a balanced meal looks like. We are also encouraging caregivers to start kitchen gardens to grow fresh, nutritious food and create lasting health benefits for their children and households.
Personalized care is already making a meaningful impact—and Mercy’s story is a powerful example. When she joined the program at 11 months, she weighed just 7.8 kg (17 lb) and showed some developmental delays. After a few months of personalized care, regular check-ins, and support for her family, she now weighs 9.3 kg and is meeting her milestones. It’s a huge improvement—and her mother is fully involved and proud of her progress.
Mercy isn’t alone. Your support is what makes this possible. In Quarter 2, we provided health education on nutrition to 195 caregivers. Additionally, we conducted follow-ups for 116 malnourished children, reaching them either by phone or through in-person visits.
In Kenya, 18% of children under five are still stunted. It is a challenge, but we are not giving up. We are expanding our reach, supporting more households, and staying committed to making sure no child is left behind due to malnutrition or missed health care.
Thank you for being a vital part of this work. We will share more updates soon—but for now, know that real change is happening, and you are helping make it happen.
