Dear Partner,
We are excited to share the progress of HopeCore’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program - progress we couldn’t have made without your generous support! The first quarter of 2025 has been a great start, and we are even more committed to helping mothers and children stay healthy.
We continue to offer our MCH services at our static office clinic and expand our reach to remote and underserved communities through village-based mobile clinics. In the three months of 2025, we have attended 28 antenatal clients, provided family planning to 80 clients, and educated 789 caregivers on the importance of proper nutrition for healthy pregnancies and children. Even better this year, we introduced visual learning models to make nutrition education more engaging and easier to understand.
For children under five, we focused on preventing common childhood illnesses, boosting immunity, and supporting healthy development. We immunized 65 children, dewormed 329 children, monitored the growth of 724 children, and provided 319 children with vitamin A supplements. Seeing these numbers turn into healthier kids is what makes everything we do so rewarding!
One success story that really stood out is Mutugi’s. He is 1.5 years old, weighs 10.3 kg, and is walking, sitting, and playing. Just a year ago, he weighed only 7.4 kg and was battling severe malnutrition, low calcium, and TB, which delayed his milestones. His mother brought him to HopeCore’s MCH clinic and made the brave decision to quit her job and focus on his recovery. Today, Mutugi is healthy and has achieved his developmental milestones for his age and his mom’s joy says it all—she is a happy mother. This is the joy your generous support is bringing to families who have benefited from our MCH services – the joy of hope for a healthier future.
However, the need is still huge. One in every 24 children does not survive to their 5th birthday and maternal deaths remain unacceptably high at 367 deaths per 100,000 live births. The good news is that most of these deaths are preventable, and with your continued support, we can make a real difference.
Your generosity means everything to us—and to the families we serve. Thank you for making all of this possible!
Gratefully,
Ann Ngunjiri, Communications Officer
