And for a joint family, which typically involves five to six members of three generations, the lack of regular work has caused severe problems. it is a burden. This unforeseen time is testing the bond and strength of the family and for many, it is 'joint' in name only. Because of poverty, the elders of the family are increasing
The Annapoorna Midday Meal Programme for elderly people is running successfully and has been very well received. It has been more than a month since we started the programme and we have around 36 regular beneficiaries, most of them over 60 years old. They are mostly ragpickers, destitute people and daily wage labourers, and are not being taken care of by their families The beneficiaries are picked up by our bus from the nearby villages to the RUADT main centre.
