Africa Food for Thought have been active in the West Rand of Johannesburg since 2004. We currently have 66 Early Childhood Development Centres we support 3 schools and 33 Orphaned and Vulnerable Families.
Each year we do collection drives for Mandela Day to purchase food parcels for our school children who are on their winter break and will not recieve the daily meal at school. These children depend on the lunch that they recieve at school and when they are on winter break many of them will not recieve food that is why Africa Food for Thought would like to ensure that they all go home for their winter break with a food parcel that will carry them during the break.
During Mandela Month we also host a community feeding event in the township where we have Early Childhood Developments Centres and Orphaned and Vulnerable Families. We feed approximately 1000 people on this day.
With the donations from GlobalGiving we are able to put this money towards these food parcels for the children and to purchase some of the food for our community feeding event. We currently have 115 children at our 3 Schools.
Africa Food for Thought are very grateful for everyone who donates via the GlobalGiving platform, it assists us towards our cause.
