Opening of octopus reserve 2024:

Meetings with the community in the 11 potential sites of octopus fishing (Nosy Be, Bevato, Belavenoke, Nosy Ve, Andavadoake, Antseragnanangy, Ampasilava, Lamboara, Tampolove and Kitambagna) were led by women leaders with the aim of making temporary octopus reserves for 2 and a half months. As a result, these 11 sites make the temporary octopus reserve. During two days of opening of the temporary reserve, the fishing community of Velondriake had a total production of 16 tons 256.40 kg with a total income of more than 81,000,000 Ar. Bevato is the place where the most octopus was collected compared to other villages, with 4 tons 236.6 Kg and the weight of an individual octopus reaches 7 Kg in Andavadoake. The fisherman who collects the most products in one day is in the Bevato area, with 80 Kg, or 360,000 Ar.

Regarding octopus data, the data collection provided by the Data Collectors continues in all the villages concerned using smartphones and quarterly, they disseminate the data to the fishing community.
