Malaria remains a leading cause of illness and death among children in rural Tororo, Uganda. Many vulnerable families cannot afford mosquito nets, leaving children exposed to infected mosquito bites every night. This project will provide 1,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets to 1,000 vulnerable children and deliver malaria prevention education to caregivers. The project will help reduce infections, improve school attendance, lower medical costs, and save young lives.
Children in rural Tororo face a constant threat from malaria, one of Uganda's deadliest diseases. Poverty prevents many families from purchasing mosquito nets, leaving children vulnerable while they sleep. Frequent malaria infections cause sickness, missed school days, hospital visits, and preventable deaths. Climate change and poor living conditions have increased mosquito breeding areas. Without protection, thousands of children remain trapped in a cycle of illness and poverty.
This project will distribute 1,000 long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets to vulnerable children in rural Tororo. Working with local leaders, schools, and health volunteers, we will identify children most at risk and provide life-saving protection. Caregivers will receive training on proper net use, maintenance, and malaria prevention. Household follow-up visits will ensure nets are correctly used, helping reduce infections, improve health, and protect children throughout the year.
Providing mosquito nets will help reduce malaria infections and deaths among 1,000 vulnerable children. Healthier children will attend school more regularly, perform better academically, and have improved opportunities for the future. Families will spend less on malaria treatment and more on essential needs. Increased community awareness will promote lasting prevention practices.
