Educational support in Mal Pais, Costa Rica

by Global Vision International Charitable Trust

Local students in Mal Pais and Santa Teresa have a three hour school day. This project aims to lengthen the school day with an ESL, and extra curricular program for students and evening classes for adults. We also hope to facilitate a bilingual Pre-school project and support Non-profit bilingual schools in the area.

Mal Pais and Santa Teresa are some of the fastest growing areas for tourism in Costa Rica. The towns are growing fast and the population is swelling beyond the capacity of local schools. This project aims to supply additional teachers and materials for students and support a bilingual Pre-school program. The project also works with local adults to offer additional education to facilitate access to the growing tourism trade.

We will assist local schools with educational resources and the bilingual pre-school program. We also aim to support the non-profit bilingual schools to sponsor students. Facilitate English courses in Mal Pais and supply extra curricular classes for students and local adults.

Long-Term Impact

The project will improve the economic situation of the local community through increased levels of education and access to the tourist trade, with the longer term aim of the community assisting the program without the need of outside donations.
