For healthcare residents at Cedar Village, both Chanukah and Christmas gifts are delivered during the holidays. In order to make the moment extra special, Resident Life Coordinators ask the residents what they'd like. Wishes range from "a book" to something more specific like "a green sweatshirt with embroidered birds." Cedar Village goes to many lengths to find that special gift. This year over 130 gifts were delivered. As one Russian resident stated, "Ah, this is wonderful. This scarf is just what I needed." Our ability to provide wishes to residents at Cedar Village truly make their lives more enriching, especially for those who have little or no family, or family living far away. For them, Cedar Village is their extended family, and to see a smiling face because of a small gesture, it's an amazing experience.
Funds donated to the "Making Dreams Come True" project will be used for projects similar to our annual gift giving days and to individual wishes of the residents at Cedar Village. Right now, a 92 year-old lady would like to go have a nice Italian dinner. Another gentleman would like a "Clapper," so that he can safely and easily turn his television off at night.
