DJOMGA! THE NEXT VILLAGE FOR A NEW WATER BASIN!
"Having a Rainwater Catchment is a blessing for our community"! Said Mrs. Kabre, a vegetable gardener and member of the women cooperative group of Kamsi village.
The photo above taken on September 30, 2016 shows one of the twelve hand dug wells full of water almost at 100% of its capacity, as the basin raises the water table.
The Well is filled up of water at it full capacity for vegetables production in Kamsi, after the construction of the basin. Village residents said that this a tremendous miracle to have water reaching such level in the wells at this time of the year.
Mrs. KABRE is a member of women "Noong-Taaba" cooperative of Kamsi. In her own words: “the basin in Kamsi is now full of water, and with God’s will, this year will be a good year for us, we can grow more crops in dry season as we wish and have more food. Now, we are not worried about lacking water this year, thanks to the newly basin built by GiveWater GiveLife Program of the Community Building Group-WA. This year we are even planning to sell some of vegetables crops in the local market in order to have additional revenue.”
She said that "all our children are very happy to swim in the water basin ".
In regards of the excellent results made so far in Kamsi, this effort needs to be replicated in the village of Djomga, in the northern area of the country, that needs a new rainwater catchment basin. The region known as Sahel region is much a drier area compared to Kamsi but just like Kamsi water is an essential and vital component for livelihood.
CBG-WA through its GiveWater GiveLife program is focused on the village of Djomga with the goal to build a new Rainwater Catchment that will help residents to overcome water scarcity problems that have been affecting them for so long. Having a basin in Djomga will give them an opportunity to grow small vegetables crops in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso.
We cannot survive without water! Many thanks to all donors and contributors!
