Thank you so much for your generous donations to help us purchase a Toyota Land Cruiser for our Nigeria team so that they can continue their counseling and skills training work with war-affected adolescent girls in Nigerian IDP (internally displaced persons) camps.
At this point, we have over one-third of the funds needed to purchase the required vehicle. As a reminder, a snorkel-equipped Land Cruiser is essential during the rainy season, as flood-damaged and degraded roads can be extremely difficult to traverse and flash flooding is a constant threat. Earlier this year, the vehicle we had previously been using--a Toyota Rav4--was severely damaged after being washed off the road during a flash flood.
While we continue our fundraising efforts, our Nigeria team has managed to borrow temporary transportation that will suffice for the present. This is a short-term, “band-aid” solution that is unsustainable beyond a few months. We hope to reach our funding goal within the first quarter of 2020 in order to purchase a Land Cruiser before the rainy season returns.
Reliable year-round transportation is vital for us to continue providing counseling and vocational skills training to war-affected and displaced Nigerian girls. We appreciate you coming alongside us!
