The main role of Community mental health program is to identify PWMI with the support of local govt. workers, DPOs, community people and ensure treatment. Follow ups of the treatment, creating awareness of side effects of tablets toPWMI and their care takers , family care, livelihood activities, govt. Schemes, Acts and federation advantages. Community mental health program training people to reducing stigma about mental health and working with Governement officials to bring required policy changes in the Govt level.
THE IMPACT OF APD
Through CMH Program 546 PWMI ensure psychiatric treatment and their accessing regular treatment.
“ Mental illness is one of the disability according to Disability act. In 1987 National mental health act came into exist. But still Stigma and superstition associated with mental disorders, coupled with the unwillingness or inability of families to care for their mentally ill relatives, appear to be the main contributory factors. Support for this view accrues from an analysis of the demographic profile of India’s mental hospital population wherein nearly half are long-stay patients. Most of these patients continue to vegetate in a dehumanised asylum environment, not on account of clinical considerations, but because they have been abandoned by their families.
Hence , APD with the support of global giving is planning to reach the un reaching persons with mental illness and carers . Through Your support and help , we can bring change in the life of 900 PWMI and main stream them back into society .
