Child Crisis Center Uganda's (CCCU) mission has always been to bring accessible education to the underdeveloped community of Magooli, Uganda. In this remote part of Uganda, the children who were fortunate enough to attend school (prior to CCCU’s involvement), had to put up with undesirable circumstances that led to a high dropout rate. Child Crisis Center Uganda has worked hard to bring a nonprofit educational academy to the community and alleviate the need for the children to travel and compete in overcrowded government schools.
Child Crisis Center Uganda's school, Magooli Children's Education Center - Namayingo (MCEC) has transformed the lives of the children tremendously. GlobalGiving has been a huge resource to us since the partner application process.
Since our last report, we had several volunteer visits from all over the globe, donor-based fundraisers and clothing drives, a 10,000 litre rainwater harvesting tank installed by our friend Chris, and a visit from our friend Suriya who came to her her sponsored student, Joan! We are deeply grateful for our supporters continued generosity and kindness.
Right now, the Magooli Children's Education Center is the ONLY school facility that is currently open the entire Namayingo community due to the other schools are goverment run and the staff are severely underpaid and striking. With this being said, we have launched a Teacher Sponsorship Program, where for $80 USD a month, one teacher at MCEC will be fully supported. This sponsorship will cover the monthly salary of one teacher at MCEC. The teacher's salary goes to covering the cost of the their housing, food/necessities, school materials, as well as their teaching wage. CCCU pays its teachers a very fair wage and we do our best to support their needs during their time with us. CCCU’s Teacher Sponsorship Program allows for a teacher supported by generous donors like you to go to feel safe and secure in their job all year long.

Additionally, we have started a fruit and vegetable farm. The children are getting more variety in their daily school meals AND learning vital farming skills!
With all of these successes come the need for more support, now more than ever. It takes $2,000/month to run our education center and we are always looking for recurring donors, as we currently do not have enough donors to match our fiscal needs. For this reason, we are still hopeful that we will reach our goal through GlobalGiving, so that we may keep the school afloat, as our monthly budget has increased. Currently there are over 400 children attending the Education Center along with eleven teachers, one cook and one nurse all on payroll. CCCU gives children a safe space close to home where they can receive individualized attention with the support of detailed and planned out curriculums. The Education Center is the heart of CCCU and we must keep it going!
