The project aims to introduce a village ambulance program for the residents of Aparis village Kumi Uganda. Village ambulances (commonly known as bicycle or motorcycle ambulances) are low-cost, pedal-powered, or motorized tricycle/motorcycle trailers specifically designed to transport patients from hard-to-reach rural areas to local health centers.
The district's sole functional ambulance serves 150,000 residents plus thousands of daily road accident cases. This ambulance is frequently unavailable.
Provide 2 village ambulances. Village ambulances serve as a critical lifeline where standard vehicles cannot travel or afford to operate. The village ambulance is the only means of transport one can call for immediate assistance when there are no other options available
Village ambulances-often using durable motorcycles, bicycle attachments, or specialized sidecars-profoundly impact rural and remote communities. They drastically cut down transport times to health centers (e.g., reducing a 2-hour walk to a 30-minute ride), ultimately serving as a critical lifeline to prevent otherwise avoidable fatalities
