By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project providing low-cost sanitation to typhoon survivors in Leyte. The typhoon event has long gone already but the problem of sanitation especially in terms of the ownership of latrines is proving to be difficult to solve. One problem is the lack of government support and another problem is that it is more convenient for people to defecate in the open and move on to other places rather than use a latrine. During this reporting period and together with local village leaders we train masons how to make a toilet bowl. Most often the toilet bowl is difficult to procure but it can be manufactured locally. We are already experts in this one and so we focus our attention to training activities. This reporting period we are able to train a total of 25 village masons how to make a toilet bowl. They will serv as the experts in their community.
Again, thank you very much for your support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
