Hopes for an Expanded Herd
![]()
The small dusty African Village of Khozi in the Matabeleland South Province is the home of Gertrude Mahlangu the Founder of Bandage the Wounded Orphanage (BTW).
Gertrude cares for 42 children orphaned by the HIV/Aids pandemic still plaguing many African countries. The American Foundation for Children with AIDS has been providing critical support for the orphanage through their various rural empowerment outreach programs and recently established a goat rearing project at Bandage the Wounded Orphanage.
We received excited news from Gertrude a few days ago that 3 of the female goats had safely delivered 3 kids all of which were born on the same day and are healthy and strong. The little herd is growing and so too are the hopes of the children that the herd will expand and generate much needed revenue.
Meet Bobby (11 years old) and Sam (7 years old), who are so excited about the baby goats that they visit them before going to school each morning and then spend most of their afternoons with them as well......talk about pampered goats!!!! Thank you AFCA for offering this ray of hope to those that most need it.
The team here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS thanks you for supporting this project and the work we do for the children in Africa. If you would like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
