Beyond the Field: Empowering Children and Youth from Ritsona Camp

By Christianna Vaso | Communications and Development Officer

Football Tournament
Football Tournament

In April, we organized our second football tournament for the children residing inside the Ritsona camp, and it was an absolute blast! Reflecting on last year's initial basketball sessions, during which we anxiously tracked attendance to gauge interest among Ritsona families, it's remarkable how far we have come. Since early 2023, when we launched the pilot project, we have expanded from basketball to football and are now offering multiple sessions per week. As of the beginning of 2024, 250 unique participants have joined our sessions.

To celebrate kids and youth that persisted in attending every week, we turned a regular spring day into a celebration of talent and teamwork.

Throughout the day, children showcased skills honed over the year, interacted with peers from other camps, and enjoyed the thrill of competition. At the end of the day, everyone walked away with a medal, celebrating their hard work and dedication. Meanwhile, the younger children had their own share of fun too, with a range of activities led by our dedicated educators.

These activities are more than just fun—they’re a key part of our mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) curriculum, rooted in principles of respect, teamwork, and inclusion.

This tournament is just one of the many ways your donations are making a real difference. Thank you for being such an important part of our community -we couldn’t do this without you, and we are so grateful for your continued support.
